From the same piece of road, only now you can see to the right side of the picture, how the road just opened and fell into the fill that it was built on as the fill itself disappeared into the boggy goo that it was put on when the mudflats were filled in to build the road and help form the lake. Also a little higher up on the picture, and to the left, you will see a gaping hole that makes a large break in the shrubbery...that was a continuous hedge, that was not broken for over a mile in length, and you will also note that the concrete slabs while unbroken themselves, have become separated from one another...this too is an ongoing movement at this late date, with more and more of the vegetation falling into the lake, almost daily still!
Also note the large mansion and the smaller house just up the picture from it...while the homes surprisingly made it through the quake in good shape, they are no longer occupied since this is the only road into them...it goes south to a road that leads to the top of a large hill...from the hill to Budd Bay the road is closed...so no one can go home!
