Foxace thinks I'm ready for my first "road trip"!
He's going to ride with me to our local Harley dealership.
I'm very nervous but, also excited about going for a real ride on my very own Harley!
Here we are at the main road. Waiting for traffic to clear. Pulling out.....DAMN!!!
Now here I am parked on the guardrail! When did they move it closer to the road? I know I leaned into the turn. How did I end up here?
In my zeal & nervousness, I must have given too much throttle & not enough lean to get turned onto the main road. I merely crossed it at an angle. Thank God for the guardrail, otherwise I would now be in the river! Instead, my handlebars are over the top of the railing & my scooter is wedged tightly against it. It's a good thing we put engine guards on this scooter. If not for those my riding days might have ended before they began.
Another $1000 repair job! Foxace is really getting good at putting my scooter back together...now if I can only get good at riding it!
Foxace is so patient with me. A few more lessons in the neighborhood and, at last, my first real road trip without incident. What a relief. What a pleasure to ride with my face in the wind. One with the world I survey. A beautiful sunny day. A good road...
Now I pass by that guardrail frequently. Almost daily. Never once passing without reflecting on the day I made that guardrail mine. In fact, it still bears the scars of my scooter parking. But, in time, I learned how to pull out smoothly on two wheels, without gunning the engine. It's a Harley after all, not a Mustang!
