FoxyLowRider

Who is FoxyLowRider?

If you read the intro on my Index page you already know something about me.

You know I like Harley-Davidson Motorcycles and am an avid rider and I ride year round.

You know that I have other interests which include Genealogy, Native American Arts, Crafts and Designing Web Pages/Sites.

That's just a very small portion of who Foxy is.

The thing that is most important to me is my Family.I still have my Mom, a Brother and 2 Sisters. My husband, Foxace. Our 5 Children and 5 Grandchildren. Many cousins and nieces and nephews. And a handfull of very close friends who are considered to be 'family' by us.

I was born and raised in Southern California. I am a mixture of English, Irish, Welsh, German, Norwegian and Oglala (Lakota) Sioux Indian.

I took my first ride on a motorcycle, sidesaddle, in a skirt, on the back of a Honda, at age 15. I was hooked. From then on I was always looking for the "next" ride.

The problem was life happened in the meanwhile.

I got married the first time at 17. By the time I was 21 I had 3 children. I got divorced at 27. There were no motorcycles in that relationship. (Only a small red Vespa Scooter.) We could barely make ends meet let alone afford the luxury of a 'money pit'.

The next 8 years I concentrated on raising my children and once again, catching a ride whenever I could.

Then, at 35, I remarried. Foxace and I have been married for 20 years.

For the first ten years it was "business as usual" with regard to raising a family. Still no motorcycles. We did discuss it and decided neither of our children had ever really been around motorcycles and the teen years of raging hormones was probably not the appropriate time to introduce 4 very impressionable boys to 2 wheels.

Then something really strange happened! All of the kids left the nest and Mom and Dad moved 3000 miles away because of a job promotion!

Motorcycle? Absolutely!

It took us a while to find our first, a 90 Sportster. But find her we did. Frigate has been with us ever since. She is named Frigate because my initials are DLG and DLG are the call letters of a US Navy ship called a Frigate.

In due time we bought an 91 FXR. What a honey!

Frigate was modified for me to ride all the time and Foxy became Foxace's main ride.

Then came the Green Hornet. A gorgeous green 97 Road King.

Foxy went through a complete overhaul and became my main ride late in 99

After 2 years and many complications, the Green Hornet was traded in for a 2001 Heritage Softtail. As yet unnamed.

Our first road trip with the Heritage and the FXR was May 2001. We went to the Mass Gathering in Worcester, MA.

That proved to be a very trying trip as one of our dear friends went down and spent 2 weeks in the hospital with broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a broken clavical. Duke is home now and doing much better. Says he'll be back in the saddle for KY State HOG Rally in September. You just can't keep a good man down.

While we did miss Duke and Snert at the Mass Gathering, we did enjoy time with many other old friends and some new ones too.

Over the years I have held a number of jobs. I waited tables, tended bar, did general office administration, worked in Aerospace and most recently in Managed Health Care.

A couple of years ago a series of events convinced me to 'retire' and persue life as a motorcycle web mama! Now, when I'm not out riding, I'm right here working on my site and other sites I am creating for other people...

Looks like a beautiful day. Think I'll go for a ride. Wanna come along?...

Well, looks like time to come out of retirement and go back to work in the real world. Foxace lost his job in October. He went to work for another company in November. The only reason I'm not already back to work is that I have been very busy selling our home in Pennsylvania and having a new home built in Massachusetts. This "dixiebelle" is moving further into the heart of "yankeeland". If all goes well, in 5 or 6 years we'll be back in the "Heart of Dixie" for good.

Meanwhile, there are major renovations going on at FoxyLowRider. I've already redesigned a new index page (not up yet) and adding US Tribute and Memorial Pages by the fall. I hope everyone will like the new look
